This week was Thanksgiving Week. Wednesday morning I had run some errands before coming home and helping my mom do some thanksgiving dinner prep.
Thursday I had thanksgiving dinner with my immediate family. That evening, before I had to take a nap before I had to go to work, I decorated my little Christmas tree.
I had to work for a few hours Friday morning. I only had to be there for an hour while we had customers. Being on the Stock Crew, meant most of my shift took place before we had customers in the store.
Last night I started reading a new book I just got in this week. I read it cover to cover and didn’t go to bed until about 4:30 am.
My weekend was pretty uneventful. I have been working on a pair of socks, using KnitPicks Hawthorne yarn. I am still working on the first sock, but plan on having it done tomorrow.
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is a little over a month away, and Thanksgiving is on Thursday.
What are all of you (well those of you who live in the U.S.) doing for Thanksgiving? I will be spending it with my family, and helping my mom cook Thanksgiving Dinner. I have been helping my mom cook Holiday dinners since she took over after my Grandma (my Dad’s mom) passed away. So I have been helping my mom make Holiday dinners since I was a teenager. Pies are my specialty. I make them from scratch, including the pie crust.
Friday morning I work, I have no idea how crazy it is going to be, fortunately I won’t have to be there super long while customers are there (since I am early stock crew). I have never done the whole Black Friday, being at stores at some early hour (at which I would rather still be in bed), to shop.
This week has been a tough week. There has been tragedy that has hit myself and many others I know.
With that being said, I am drained.
I am not going to focus on the negative stuff, so I will share with you the good stuff that happened this week.
Thursday I made my mom her birthday pie, since her birthday is this month. I made her a cherry cream cheese pie.
Thursday I also picked up a few more Christmas ornaments and decoration-y things. While I am more of a Merida / Brave fan as far as Disney Princesses go, I already have a Merida, an Aurora and a Pocahontas ornament, I got a Cinderella ornament to add to my collection. I also got the last 3 ornaments I had seen at work that I liked. I also had picked up a string of clear mini lights, as I had picked up a fake garland with fake berries on it as well as a string of wooden snowflakes that I plan to use on a mantle or entertainment center.
The past few days I have been working on knitting up more socks and trying to work on getting up as much of the sock yarn I have knit up as soon as I can.
This weekend I have been hearing a lot of people I know, primarily on social media, talking about how they want to put up their Christmas decorations or that they want to decorate for Christmas.
I’m over here like “Noooooooooo, it’s to early for Christmas decorations” and “I am already so over looking at Christmas decorations”. For the past two months I have been working a seasonal job in the retail industry, and we have been working on setting up our Christmas shops in store since mid September, so I am at a point already where I am over looking at decorations before the season has already begun.
This past week was crazy busy, first time I worked 5 days in nearly a month, and as Christmas is approaching it is only getting busier.
I have been sleeping a lot this week when I haven’t been working.
Yesterday I helped baked some cookies that I cannot eat since they have dairy, eggs and gluten, but it was fun.
Today I finished up a pair of sock I have been working on for the better part of a month. I had hoped to have these socks done and washed by Halloween, but that didn’t quite happen. At least they are done now, well besides the washing, blocking and drying part. I am waiting on a sunny semi warm day in order to put my socks out on the line to dry.
